In the spirit of our core values, SCS encourages staff members to participate in volunteer opportunities by giving back to the communities in which we live and work. The firm recognizes that participating in these activities supports and enhances our communities, and also enriches the lives of staff members.

This week we had the pleasure to chat with Kage Graham, our Settlement Coordinator, on his recent experience volunteering at Feeding Families of America.

Why did you decide to volunteer?

I am unfamiliar with how many companies offer VTO so I thought it would be a great idea to take advantage of one of the many perks the SCS family has to offer. Also because volunteering either on company or personal time is the right thing to do.

How did you choose the institution you volunteered for?

I chose Feeding Families of America – West Michigan because I know what it’s like to go without food. It was a personal choice based on a reflection of a period of my past and helping the less fortunate when possible, either on company time or personal time, will always be the correct decision.

How was your volunteer day like?

My volunteer day was beyond great. The individuals I shared my time with were outstanding people who love to give back to the communities of West Michigan. There were also members of various Michigan National Guard units, whose current mission is to fight hunger and give back. All in all, it was an awesome experience and I am fortunate to have had the opportunity to partake. Thank you SCS!

Kage, thank you for all you do! We truly appreciate you!
